HISTORY:
(She's the protag so here's an episode list. Since her wiki page has no proper history section I've summarized the most important parts.)

Yui has been dreaming of becoming an idol in the popular VR Game Pripara that exists basically all over the world except for the city of Paparajuku. A dream eating tapir has made this impossible so far because it eats all girls’ dreams which is why no one except for Yui shows any interest in becoming an idol.

This is until Divine Idol Lala Manaka comes to town and together Yui and Lala try to popularize Pripara. Yui finally manages to make some girls believe in their dreams and be interested in Pripara.

Sometimes when they perform a mysterious girl called Falala appears, she usually goes back to sleep in the game right after. One night Lala and Yui share a dream in which they learn the truth about Falala and the missing dreams. Falala is a legendary spirit from ancient Pripara. She and her counterpart Garara were tasked with protecting Pripara during day and night, but couldn’t be awake at the same time. Falala helped girls around in Pripara during the day while there really wasn’t much to do for Garara at night.
Since Garara grew tired of being lonely at night, her tapir mascot Paku started eating dreams. The dreams’ energy allowed Garara to stay awake, but in return Falala fell asleep for thousands of years. Since girls in Paparajuku don’t have dreams the ancient Pripara closed and ended up being forgotten.

To change the games’ System and let Falala and Galala be awake at the same time Yui has to form a team with two other girls – Nino and Michiru – to get magical coords, use those to travel back in time to the ancient Pripara and use the time jewel that for non-specified reasons, can solve this problem.

Yui realizes that all her small dreams combine into the big dream of wanting everyone to be able to find happiness in Pripara. She thinks she achieved that dream by saving Garara and Falala.
Meanwhile Paku was actually not happy with the situation because she wanted to be Garara’s only friend and not have her forget about the thousands of years they spend alone together. She ends up eating the clocktower in which she stored the dreams she’d eaten and turns into a giant frozen clocktower-tapir-monster. Many heartwarming performances later Yui and her friends manage to get inside Paku and free the dreams she’d eaten, unfreeze her and make her realize her true dream was to see Garara smile.

STRENGTHS:

Determinaton/Dream Power
When Yui puts her mind to something she’ll do whatever she can to achieve her goal. Her determination gets even stronger when she has friends she can share her dreams with. Early on in the show Lala and Yui followed a girl called Nino around all day to convince her that idols aren’t “lifeless” in comparisons to sports, and obviously to also make her go to Pripara. While they failed at any form of sport they encountered on their quest they never gave up which made an impression on Nino.
When a situation seems especially dire Yui manages to pull through on her so called dream power alone. She makes up a scenario that helps her get to her goal, e.g. when she hurt her foot she pretended that she was actually a cyborg whose ankle was made of metal which helped her ignore the pain, get on stage and perform. It’s not impossible to get her to give up but it does take a serious obstacle to stop her.

Informed
While Yui may seem stuck in her dreamy world most of the time she is actually quite knowledgable about the things she’s interested in. Despite never having been to Pripara herself she learned a lot about it via magazines. She also actively tries to research on the mysteries of Falala and Garara in the library herself when she and Lala feel like Pripara’s administration has not been very helpful.

Unlimited Creativity
Yui has an uncountable number of books filled with ideas and she gets a new one every waking (and dreaming) moment. This leads to her being able to not only come up with the perfect clothes for any scenario but to help her solve difficult problems. These solutions might end up being a little unconventional though.

FLAWS:

Scatterbrain
Always thinking of her many dreams and possibilities she tends to lose sight of the big picture. She has a hard time organizing her thoughts when someone asks her to come up with one specific idea for something. She is aware of this though and manages to overcome this flaw with inspiration by her friends. In everyday life she sometimes forgets dates like her own birthday.

Spacing Out
In some situations she might get lost in a very specific story she’s making up in her head and forgets everything around her for the next few minutes. E.g. when she asked Lala why she changed schools she didn’t wait for an answer and instead made up an entire dramatic backstory for her instead of waiting for an answer.

Defiant
If someone manages to make her dislike her, she will try anything to not have to work together with them. Yui’s relation to her brother is an extreme example of this but it’s safe to assume it could go for anyone who is constantly mean to her. In her brothers’ case she does anything to not have to ask him for help and has embarrassing pictures and stories ready in case he’s getting on her nerves too much.

CANON ABILITIES:
Outside of Pripara Yui doesn’t have any special abilities.
She is good at inspiring people to believe in their dreams and can draw and knit very well.

AU INFORMATION

AU BACKSTORY:
Yui Yumekawa is a young girl from Paparajuku, a city located somewhere near Tokyo. Ever since she’s been three years old, she’s kept design notebooks to record her many dreamy ideas. While she has a large number of dreams her most important dream has been becoming an idol. Now this doesn’t seem to be a weird aspiration for a young girl to have, but due to the dream eating tapir Paku all other girls in Paparajuku have lost theirs and think it’s weird for Yui to want to be an idol – or have any other dream at all. Yui got to keep her dreams due to the sheer amount of them being just too much for Paku to eat at once.

While girl idols are unheard of in Paparajuku boy idols have become a popular phenomenon. In fact, Yui’s own brother Shougo is part of the most popular local idol group WITH, much to Yui’s dismay. Originally it was him who inspired her to want to become an idol at all but due to the city’s tapir situation (and a sprinkle of some quite normal sibling rivalry) Shougo started to belittle her for her dream. At the age of 11 she awakened as a Candle, her powers letting her transform into her ideal idol self and giving her the ability to manifest her dreams while singing. She’s not able to fully control her powers yet and may accidentally set them off by daydreaming too hard, which might lead to people being hit by a wave of sparkling hearts.
She got scouted by a Candle school in Harajuku where she was prepared to attend Daybreak Academy.

AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION:
Instead of becoming an idol in Pripara Yui wants to be a regular idol.
In the original show she sometimes says “やる気! 元気 ! 寝起き!” which is impossible for me to properly translate into English or French, so I have decided to omit it.

RACE: Human

SECRET SOCIETY: She’s a candle who has been recruited via a different school in Harajuku to prepare her for Daybreak Academy.

POWERS:
Her flame allows her to transform into her ideal idol self and gives her the ability to make her dreams take physical form when she performs a song. She doesn’t have full control over her powers yet and when she daydreams, she might accidentally set it off and have little sparkling hearts that represent her dreams coming out of her eyes.
Incidentally, her rice cooker Takki seems to have developed its own personality when her powers awakened.

Hmm… of course the campus has to be filled with dreamy cute buildings and a uniform with lots of frills is very important! The headteacher should be a nice old lady, maybe she was famous in the past… I accidentally stumble into a secret chamber next to her office and find a picture of herself, and on the back of the picture frame with a secret code engraved on it. [She snaps out of it, a little embarrassed.] Ah, I mean, I think there should be nice teachers and students!

4. WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST LIMITS YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR TRUE POTENTIAL?

I know there is no dreamy limit to my potential!! If I believe in my dream it will come true one day!

Anything I can make my dreamy ideas real with. I dreamy love crafting and drawing!

I practice dancing and singing! I hope there’s a music club… we never had one at my old school…
